Decorations: Gold, Black, and White

Gold, Black, and White would probably be the colors of my personal flag if I were to ever make one. So doing a party that was these colors was awesome. For this party one of my personal goals was to make most of the decorations myself. So do to this I had to have a lot of help in the inspiration department, or I would have been able to do any of it. One of the hardest most time consuming decorations I did was the garland. Here you can see the gold black and white circles.
This was a fun process, to figure out what I wanted to do I looked on Pinterest and saw many different ways and ideas to make a garland. I choose to just use paper and string. I originally was just going to buy them but it was like five dollars a strand so I thought that I could make it easier and cheaper then that. Lesson learned the hard was this took forever and each strand really probably is worth five dollars, but over all I did enjoy working on them.

Here is a picture of what I had to do to cute out the circles, I used a cricket machine that my mother in law had on hand but I still had to cut them out a little bit because the paper was so thick. So the supplies I used for this decoration was fairly simple.

  1. Gold glitter paper, black glitter paper, and white card-stock paper (these were all purchased from JOANN'S craft store, but could be found at any craft store)
  2. Mod Podge (I found this in Walmart, however could also be found at any craft store)
  3. Sewing String (Walmart)
  4. A foam brush (Walmart)

Once the circles are cut out, I glued them together so there was a front and a back, to the string.

To do this I measure the height or how tall I wanted the garland to be, and then use a tape measure to figure out how far apart to make them, once I had the first one finished I just used it as a guide for all the others. This really wasn't hard to make it just took a lot of time to put it all together but once it was done it looked so awesome.

Another fun decoration that was made was black and white striped canvas with a gold heart. This was super simple and a fairly quick craft, you do have to let the paint dry if you use pain like I did.
  1. 2 Blank Canvases (Walmart)
  2. Black acrylic paint (Walmart)
  3. Foam Brush (Walmart)
  4. Gold Glitter Paper (JoAnn's)
(However with any of these things you could probably find at any craft store.

First you would just gather supplies, then use a ruler and pencil to figure out the width of the lines you would like then you would paint the black stripes on.

Here is the black lines on it. Don't judge too harshly I was never really very good at painting and staying completely in the lines, but I am not a perfectionist and was just fine with my turnout.
Next you would cut out a gold heart if you are anything like me I had to fold the paper in half like you learn to do in kindergarten and the cut my heart out.

Then I just used some Mod Podge to glue the heart on.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I hope that I can help you in anyway with making decorations or to just be inspired. I will post more decorations and how I made them.

Gold, Black, and White

Hey Y'all this was one of my favorite parties I have made decorations for yet. Like I said in my first post I love, love, love throwing parties, for some reason it makes me uber happy. I just like getting together with people I love, and to have fun treats and cute decorations just makes it better. For this party I actually did it for a project for school. I had a lady ask me to throw/make decorations for a party she was doing for her daughter in law. Anyway this party was a baby shower, but it had to be gender neutral, so for this I sat down with the lady and her daughter in law to kind of discuss what they wanted. We talked about different gender neutral themes and colors, in the end they decided they liked the gold, black, and white best (which is great because those colors are totally in right now).

So we started looking at decorations for the party (thank you Pinterest) for inspiration. Now I am semi-creative in that way I just like to make things, so most the time I find things on pinterest and make them my own. So I will just show you an overview of the party and in the next post I will do the process of the decorations and before and after photo's of some of the decorations. However I had so much fun with this party because gold and glitter are kind of in my obsession scope right now. I made garland, cake, signs, and a banner (which I got from Wal-Mart but the chalk writing is mine).
Here is the treat table it turned out super adorable and better than I had pictured so I would say that it was a success!! The Garland was done by me and took me forever (good things for cricket or cutting those circles by hand would have taken me way to long to be worth it!)

Of course I had to throw one in there of someone enjoying it, and just look how cute she is!! Love it!

Here is a picture of the refreshments, which I planned and made too, but we took the old Starbucks jugs, and decorated them with washi tape, it they all had their own design and they turned out way cute!!

The gift table, you can't see because it is far away but there was signs on the table that I made.

Close up of the treat table and some of my decorations, I also arranged I don't have a technique for that but just kind of eye it and move things around till I like it!

The Beautiful Glowing Mother to BE!!!

Biggest Obsession

Hey everyone my name is Lauren A Randall. I am a 22 year old married to my best friend Skyler Randall. I am originally from Burley, Idaho, which will always have my heart, but I also love Cedar City, Utah. I am a country girl, and I love being outdoors. I also don't mind being in the city occasionally especially if I can go shopping, but I hate driving in a lot of traffic, way too stressful for me. I am living my dream right now because I am in nursing school at Southern Utah University. I just recently started my 2nd semester, which apparently is the hardest I hear. However I am loving every minute of it and besides I get to give people IV's so it makes up for it...right? Anyway I am starting this blog because I put together a party for a project I had to do for school, called the EDGE project. So when I thought about it I thought it would be fun for me to just blog about the parties I throw and things I make. Let's be real about this I am obsessed with throwing parties like big time, going into party stores kind of sets me off and I go a little money crazy. Anyway don't judge too harshly on my English skills because I am NOT in anyway an English major, and everyone should be grateful about that, but I hope you enjoy my blog and just know I am not a professional at doing parties, it is just something I love to do and thought I could maybe help someone who is like me.
Here is a cute picture of my husband and I at the Cassia County Rodeo this year.
